PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
A special prayer
ministry of this congregation is Prayer Shawl. Shawls are knitted or
crocheted for the specific purpose of wrapping a person in prayer.
The person knitting the
shawl prays for whoever will receive it. When the request comes for
a shawl to be sent out, the shawl is placed in the sanctuary during
worship, and after the service a group will gather round, hold the
shawl, and pray for the person by name. This is done with each
shawl.
If you are interested in
helping with this ministry or if you need a prayer shawl sent to
someone, please contact Bobbie Garrison or the church office. |

HUG‐N‐BUDDIES
A playful way to remind people God loves
them is to give a stuffed animal that has
been “in worship.”
The animals are placed in the pews; each has
a tag explaining, “It has heard the
Scriptures read, sermons preached, prayers
prayed and songs of praise sung. It knows
both the joys and the heartaches of our
people, and has been surrounded by the love
so freely shared by our community of faith.
It comes to offer you comfort and peace,
with all the blessings of worship and love.”
The Hug‐NBuddies are free for you to take to
whom you chose. To keep the ministry going,
we ask that you bring new stuffed animals to
be outfitted with prayer tags to be placed
in the pews. If you would like to help with
this ministry, please contact the pastor or
the church office. |

Dear Prayer
Shawl Ministry,
Words cannot express how touching it was to
receive the beautiful Prayer Shawl on behalf of the Prayer Shawl
Ministry at the First United Methodist Church.
As you can imagine this Prayer Shawl has
provided warmth and comfort; and the poem and prayers embraced my
daughter and I when we needed comfort at this difficult time.
The Shawl is lovely and I will use it
whenever I need to be reminded of God’s love and embrace.
With Sincere Gratitude, Mary Elle Holtz

Dear
Prayer Shawl Ministry, I came
down with a sickness that put me in emergency room several hours and
in bed for several days. Finally found a doctor that knows what my
problem was and trying to help me.
A friend of mine knew how sick I was and
came with this beautiful shawl that was prayed over. It brought
tears to my eyes for it meant the world to me. No words can express
how grateful I am to receive one of the precious shawls.
Thanks, Martha Harrelson
